Catherine Johnson
Program Administrator for Peer Tutoring

Catherine has over six years of experience supporting college students on their academic journeys. She comes to Harvard with knowledge and experience around effective tutoring program management and is very excited to work with the Beverly J. Duran Tutoring Program at the ARC. In her position at the ARC, Catherine connects students who are seeking course-content support with an available Peer Tutor. She is integral in the hiring, onboarding, and continuous training of Peer Tutors. She also serves as the direct liaison between the ARC and HUIT regarding our systems’ administration.

Prior to coming to Harvard, Catherine worked at Tufts University as an Academic Coach where she also coordinated the undergraduate tutoring program. In that role, she expanded the training opportunities offered for tutors, created a more inclusive application and hiring process for new tutors, and launched a marketing campaign to increase student use of tutoring services. Catherine earned her M.Ed. from Merrimack College where she conducted research for her capstone on tutoring pedagogical best practices. As a College Reading and Learning certified Peer Tutor herself, Catherine brings with her great insight into the needs and values of quality peer tutoring.
